Job Description:
Manages and leads day-to-day technical operations of the Searle clean room facility for The University of Chicago; Ensures that the clean room facility and specialty systems are fully operational and comply with the University standards for integrated safety management, Environmental Safety Health (ESH)/Quality Assurance (QA), and general University operations. Works with principal investigators, staff, students and postdocs to: ensure the facility is responsive to scientific needs, map research problems onto the clean room toolset, and provide enhancements designed to further the scientific and educational mission of the facility; Maintains operational records including best practices.

Education: A Ph.D. and 1-3 years of relevant industrial or academic experience, OR, a Master's Degree and 3-5 years of relevant industrial or academic experience, OR, a Bachelor's Degree and 6-8 years of relevant industrial or academic experience, is required. Experience: Considerable knowledge and experience with clean room systems, electronics, and high vacuum technology is required. Considerable knowledge of ESH/QA policies and procedures is required. Considerable knowledge of operational and maintenance requirements of an experimental/scientific facility, as well as highly specialized systems relative to: clean room technology, lithography and waste disposal is required. Considerable knowledge of clean protocols and requirements typical of semiconductor fabrication clean rooms is required. Experience in a broad range of fabrication techniques is required.
