Tornado Spectral Systems (TSS) is an award winning developer of innovative products in spectroscopy. TSS' OCTANE-860 has been recognized by the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) as a Prism Award Winner for 2014. The Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is a leading international competition that honors the world’s best new photonic products on the market. TSS’ OCTANE-860, the world’s first commercially available high-performance OCT spectrometer on a chip is the winner in the category of “Detector, Sensing, Imaging and Camera”. This is the 2nd year in a row that TSS has been recognized for innovative products. In 2013 our HyperFlux™ spectrometer, which uses our patented High Throughput Virtual Slit (HTVS), was chosen a Prism Award finalist in the category of “Optics and Optical Components”. Simply put, there are no higher performing instruments on the marketplace than our HyperFlux series of spectrometers. In the >200 years of spectrometer design, virtually all of the components in a conventional spectrometer have been optimized... with the notable exception of the light entrance slit. The slit is what allows you to regulate throughput versus resolution. In the past, you had to decrease one to increase the other. HTVS obviates that decision. With a slit-less spectrometer you do not have to compromise one for the other. >95% of the photons entering the spectrometer make it to the detector. The net-net is that you get more critical information about the chemical you are interrogating, and you can get that information much quicker. This invention alone takes process analytical technology (PAT) and non destructive test (NDT) to another realm, and enhances manufacturer's ability to deploy the benefits of RAMAN more readily to "on line" or "at line" continuous manufacturing quality control and assurance. With TSS next generation solutions you now have two choices; either HTVS enhanced products...or nothing at all.
