Job Description:
Persons with a background in mechanical engineering, computer science (programming, automation, optics and graphics) are invited to apply for a Senior Research Specialist I position in the Department of Geosciences to work in the lab of Professor Adam Maloof. This individual will assist in the development of new technologies for fossil specimen processing and digital fossil reconstruction. Familiarity with precision grinders, CNC machine code programming and optical digital imaging is recommended. An interest in geology and Earth history is preferred. The position offers the opportunity to study the role of CNC machining, digital modeling and quantification processes in the study of early life. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year contingent upon satisfactory performance. The appointee will split their time between the Department of Geosciences at Princeton University and Situ Studio, a digital fabrication studio in Brooklyn, NY.
